Your mother found something rather rare. Instead of being for cocktail sauce, these are individual oyster dishes. You sent a picture of the reverse so it was easy for me to see the shape of the bottom of each piece and that picture clearly shows these small dishes to be shaped like an oyster shell.
As expensive and desirable as oyster plates are, they are fairly common. Most persons have never seen individual oyster plates. Your mother evidently bought someone’s collection.
I was in Lyon, France, one January and my friend took me to an indoor antique market. There was a bar for drinks and you could order raw oysters one at a time. It was around 9 a.m. and there were a lot of customers. It is common in Europe to buy raw oysters one at a time rather than half a dozen like we do in the United States.

He said he used to have dozens and dozens of oyster plates. He sold some, and some are displayed on the wall above the oyster bar at Magnolia Grill.
