This easy lettuce recipe uses blanching technique which is easy to do and suits beginners and busy home-makers. Lettuce can be eaten raw therefore it tastes good with blanched lettuce recipe. Note that this lettuce recipe also works well with other vegetables such as choy sum and siew pak choy. Although these 2 vegetables are not suitable to be eaten raw, they cooked fast but you may want to add more oyster sauce.
This lettuce recipe only needs blanched lettuce to be topped with oyster sauce and garlic oil to be served. Leave it to the guests or diners to toss the lettuce if they want to mix the oyster sauce and garlic oil evenly to the lettuce. This dish looks nicer when served without tossing. Furthermore, some diners prefer less oyster sauce while some prefer more oyster sauce so let them decide whether to toss or not to toss.
